Exploring a Unusual Steam Demo: Playing as a Piece of Feces in a Mission to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and players have encountered a variety of engaging indie games. Yet, one catches the eye for its unconventional concept. Named Unko Technica, this old-school styled jumping adventure lets you play a character that is truly a turd attempting to make its way to a restroom. For those curious, "Unko" translates to "poop."

How you interact is straightforward: just use a jump control. Throughout numerous levels, encounter mini-bosses and access a shop to purchase outfits for your fecal avatar.

Execute your jumps with caution, as a wrong move means beginning again. Jump on bubbles to propel yourself to new heights, navigate crumbling ledges, and touch switches to reveal new areas. Earn currency for buying tougher game content as gameplay gets crazy.

Graphically, the game features vibrant stages and an amazing music score. The retro visual style of moving abstract forms evokes memories of gamers of old favorites like Earthbound.

Even though hard to recall other games where you control a coiled turd, interactive entertainment often incorporated fecal matter. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players craft explosives from protagonist excrement. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use feces as fertilizer. And of course, such content shows up heavily in the role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Despite its humorous concept, Unko Technica has already earned impressive recognition, such as taking top honors at Bandai Namco's GYAAR Studio in 2023. This trial version is accessible currently on Steam, with the complete version set to launch on computers on November 19.
