An international commission of inquiry has declared that Israeli authorities has committed acts of genocide against the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip.

Their findings indicate there are reasonable grounds to believe that four of the five violations under global conventions have been perpetrated since the beginning of the conflict with militant groups in 2023.

The commission cites statements by government officials and the conduct of military personnel as proof of destructive aims.

"Destructive purpose was the clear conclusion from the pattern of state forces," the document states.

Israeli Response

Israel has strongly denied the report, describing it as "misleading and false".

An official claimed the UN experts of acting like "representatives" and using "falsehoods laundered and repeated by others".

Israeli officials insist that their operations are aimed at neutralizing militant capabilities and not targeting non-combatants.

Background

The conflict began after an unprecedented attack on southern Israel by Hamas on October 7th, during which 1,200 people were killed and over 250 were captured.

Since then, military operations have caused the deaths of tens of thousands of individuals in the territory, according to local sources.

Investigators emphasizes that nations worldwide have an obligation to stop and penalize genocide, adding that inaction could amount to involvement.

At the same time, the ICJ is hearing a case brought by a member state that charges Israeli forces of genocidal actions.
