Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has outperformed his teammate at all of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the closing stages of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the championship lead from Piastri by a single point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, topped the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, lying 36 points behind Norris, was classified in P17 as his Red Bull team followed a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to have an incident, if briefly, when he lost control at the fourth corner during the early running.
The Japanese slid over the track edges before sliding over the run-off area, and was fortunate to get away with just a light touch of the barrier.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the session, rotating twice through the fast downhill corner approaching the final bend on to the main straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th place, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the remaining drivers, with the German's car P3, over half a second behind the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
